IELTS

The IELTS Exam.

The international English Language Testing System (IELTS), is an internationally owned and globally recognized direct English language assessment that is readily available throughout the world. It designed to access the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication. IELTS is one of the most respected English language exam.

ACADEMIC & GENERAL TRAINING

The academic module accesses whether the candidate is ready to study or train in the medium of English at an undergraduate or postgraduate level. The general training module emphasis on basic survivals skills in the broad social and educational context. General training is suitable for candidates who are going to English speaking countries to complete their secondary education, to undertake work experience or training programmes not at a degree level, or for immigration purpose.

TEST FORMAT Candidates are tested in listening, reading, writing and speaking.

BULATS

BULATS is a suite of language tests developed jointly by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, Alliance Francaise, Goethe Institute and Universidad de Salamaca to test the language proficiency of a test taker in English, French, German and Spanish. BULATS is a reliable diagnostic tool which gives you an accurate picture of your English Language skills. BULATS is available as a pen & paper test as well as computer based test. BULATS assesses all 4 language skills, i.e., Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.

BULATS TEST FORMAT

BULATS test is divided into 3 parts :

STANDARD TEST -
Listening and Reading, Writing Test, Speaking Test. Each of the above modules can either be taken together or individually. The test format is as under:

• LISTENING TEST :  50 minute test. Has 4 sections and 50 questions and assesses with different international accents.



• READING TEST :  60 minute test in 2 parts. Part I has 4 section and 24 questions. Part II has 6 section and 36 questions. The reading test assesses the ability to understand written English texts and checks comprehension, skimming, scanning skills.



• WRITING TEST :  45 minute test in 2 parts. Part I i is a short memo or note where a candidate is required to write 50-60 words. Part II is longer, like report writing, where a candidate is required to write test 180-200 words in 30 minutes. The writing test assesses writing skills of an individual and evaluates the appropriateness of language use, organising ideas and how effectively the piece of writing achieves its purpose.



• SPEAKING TEST :  12 minute test face, to face interview. Has 3 parts. Part I is like an interview for 4 minutes. Part II is again for 4 minute and part III is also for 4 minute where emphasis is placed on information exchange and discussion.

University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations is pleased to bring to India for the first time LinguaSkill Diagnostic, a test that will answer all the above questions.

LinguaSkill Diagnostic, tests all four language skills: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The tests include a range of tasks which assess a student's ability to use English and to check the full range of skills needed to communicate effectively in a variety of contexts.

Candidates will take three test papers: Listening, Reading and Language Knowledge, Writing, Speaking, and receive a Test Report Form (TRF) from the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations within 7 days of taking the test.
